The Record Collector's Guide | Concert Bureau College of the City of New York New York 1936 | $39.00 | Good, Dustjacket: No Jacket, Card Cover | The book has some staining on the card covers and the title page has a two inch rip. Pages are darkened and many record listings have tick marks next to them throughout the book. The previous owner's name is wrtten at the top of the front cover, which adds to the provenance: this book was owned by an avid record collector. Additional ephemera found inside book includes: A typewritten letter to the previous owner signed by the author giving advice on having records pressed, dated February 8th, no year. A letter addressed to "Dear Friends" with the heading "HALIFAX CONSERVATORY ALUMNI", dated October, 1937, indicating the date of the first meeting of the season. It also lists the topics of upcoming meetings and handwriting asking if (the book owner I presume) would mind bringing thier "Margareta Matzenauer" records for the meeting. Also included are auction sheets from the "American Record Collectors' Exchange, 235 East 51 St. New York, NY" which were produced monthly, some are definitely 1937, and some only have the month indicated. They list hundreds of records. This could be an excellent resource for a collector of early records and the history of collecting. |
